Our Story

Code of the West is a Southern California nonprofit bringing the history and culture of the American West to life through living-history reenactments and educational performances since 2002.

Keeping Western History Alive

Code of the West was founded in 2002 by Ben Thorn and Wicked Red Thorn. What began as a shared passion for the American West grew into a dedicated troupe committed to preserving and presenting Western history through live performance.

As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, the organization's mission centers on bringing Western history to life through staged reenactments, character portrayals, historical storytelling, period costumes, and live performances. The troupe performs at community events, historical gatherings, festivals, nonprofit functions, and other venues where audiences can experience Old West history in an engaging and memorable way.

Based in Moreno Valley, CA, Code of the West has performed throughout Southern California and welcomes people interested in history, reenactment, and community participation to inquire about joining the troupe.

A Nonprofit on a Mission

Code of the West is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Its work is driven by a mission to preserve and present the history and culture of the American West, not by commercial goals.

That nonprofit mission shapes how the troupe participates in the community, including charity and nonprofit event appearances. Donations help support the organization's educational and performing-arts outreach across Southern California.
